The Cowboy Clubs of the State of Jefferson  annual multi-club Christmas Party was held on the evening of  15 December, at the OddFellows  (IOOF) Hall  in Gold Hill,        ************************ An RO1 course was held by Sweetwater Jack on June 5th.

 The Next RO1 Course will be held as requested by members.

An RO II COURSE WAS HELD on November 11th, by Har Trigger, at the JCSA Meeting/Classroom at the Range.  It was well received and well-attended, not only by Marauders, but the other clubs of the State of Jefferson, as well!

  Thanks for the great response!  We'll  post info on the next ROII Course in the near future.

RANGE OFFICER COURSES

Basic Safety Course (RO1), as well as the updated Shooter's Handbook may be downloaded from the SASS home page on the website. (www.sassnet.com)

Next RO1 Course 9-21-08 1:00 pm

For those needing the RO1 Course, I will be holding one on Sunday, 21 September at Gaye Abandon and my place in Grants Pass. (414 Colin Rd for those who haven't been there, or go to the Merlin Marauders website for directions to the classroom)  Starting at 1PM, finished about 5PM.  Course fee is $5.00 per NEW student, which goes to SASS HQ for your pin which HQ mails to your home. I don't charge for the course materials, etc.  Anyone who has taken and passed the course previously may take it as a refresher, with no exam, for no charge.
 

I feel that the course is important for everyone to take, and donate the costs of producing the course materials.

                 Directions to the "classroom" at:  414 Colin Rd. Grants Pass: 

Take 199 to Wilderville turnoff. Down the hill to Wilderville and turn left onto  Fish Hatchery Rd. About 3.7 miles to Colin Rd. Turn right and up the road to 414.   I feel that the course is important for everyone to take, and donate the costs of producing the course materials.

                                      Next RO2 Course 11-22-08

The next RO2 Course will be conducted by Har Trigger, assisted by JD Walker and myself, on 22 November in Grants Pass/Merlin at the Josephine County Sports Park (where the Merlin Marauders hold their matches) in the range classroom.  Time and fees will be posted shortly.   Prerequisite for taking this class is completion of the RO1 course with a passing grade.

REMINDER: The "Merlin Cowboy" Category (relaxed Classic Cowboy)  Requirements are:   The usual boots, hat long-sleeve shirt and pants, plus: Chaps, Spurs, Vest and Scarf. 

Pistol and Rifle: Any SASS-Legal of .40 Caliber and larger. Shotgun: Any SASS-legal side-by-side shotgun. Smokeless OR Black Powder loads.  Shooting Style: Either "Duelist" OR "Traditional".

       Merlin Marauders is also recognizing two other new categories for our                 MONTHLY MATCHES ONLY.  

They are: Senior Gunfighter for those 60 and older. and: Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter

Effective Immediately, the Wild Bunch has decreed that any 12 gauge shotgun ammunition that has been "bottlenecked" by running it through a 16 gauge crimp die, then a 20 gauge crimp die to make it easier/quicker to load in Side-by-Side Double-barrel Shotguns is

 ILLEGAL AMMUNITION!

 For reasons of safety, using this ammo will result in the shooter receiving a MATCH DQ!
